About RCRD
Founded in 2004 in Huntsville, Alabama, Rocket City Roller Derby (RCRD) is a non-profit recreational league dedicated to the thrilling sport of full-contact roller derby. Our league brings athletes of all skill levels together, promoting teamwork, fitness, and empowerment through this dynamic and fast-paced sport. At RCRD, we foster a supportive and inclusive community where skaters, officials, and fans alike can experience the excitement and camaraderie of roller derby. Our Mission
Rolling out with the Rocket City Roller Derby League, the heart of roller derby excitement in Huntsville, Alabama! We’re all about delivering high-octane, safe, and competitive action on the track. As proud members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), we’re dedicated to growing the flat track roller derby scene, both locally and worldwide. What is Roller Derby?
Roller derby is a fast-paced, full-contact sport played on an oval track. Each team fields a jammer, who scores points by lapping members of the opposing team, and blockers, who play both offense and defense. About Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby
The WFTDA is the international powerhouse of women’s flat track roller derby, representing over 450 member leagues across six continents. As the sport’s governing body, the WFTDA promotes and advances flat track roller derby while revolutionizing women’s roles in sports through the collective efforts of its global member leagues. Our strength lies in the diversity of our leagues, volunteers, staff, and community. As we continue to grow and become more inclusive, the WFTDA will only get stronger.
Fundraisers
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, RCRD relies on our community for financial support.
